Who is the set made for

The set is made for ages 7 and up and fans of the Jurassic World Dominion series. It includes 3 biosyn stickers for the off-road truck (one sticker for the hood and two stickers for the sides of the truck).

What’s Inside

There are 3 minifigures, 2 dinosaurs – a Pyroraptor and a Dilophorsaurus.

The pyroraptor dinosaur is a darker orange with spots and a hard textured tail. The dilophosaurus dinosaur is green with a lighter orange streak on its back and a flexible tail on the end. Both dinosaurs have moving jaws.
There is an off-road truck and a trailer which can hold one of the dinosaurs.
Two minifigures can sit inside the truck. The trailer sides come down and the trailer has a ramp in the back. The radar and gun rack comes out the back of the truck.

Notable building techniques

The truck roof comes off easily, using pearl dark gray ingot bars (gold bar) to hold into place.

The trailer is also designed for easy access to load the dinosaur similar in design to other LEGO Jurassic World dinosaur cages.

Unique features

This is the first set to include this version of the minifigure Dr. Ian Malcolm. It is also the first set to include the ACU guard. The Dilophosaurus can also be found in Dilophosaurus on the Loose set from 2019 while the Pyroraptor is new to this set.

Comparisons to other sets

The set is similar to LEGO’s Dilophosaurus Ambush set from 2023 and an earlier version from 2015 featuring a truck and a dinosaur.

Conclusion

The set is sturdy, especially the truck, and holds up for rough play. The truck was simplistic yet realistic, and the stickers added detail to its design. I would recommend the set only if you like the dinosaurs and the sturdiness of the truck. The set took approximately 45 minutes to build and is priced at 44.99 or .18 cents per piece. The set is available at LEGO.com.

Packaging

The box does a good job of showing how the set can be played with. The final build resembles the play on the box. The set came with four bags. It has two instruction books, one for the dresser, chair, badnik, rings and plane and another for the workshop.

Comparisons to other sets

There are several other Sonic the Hedgehog sets released by LEGO, some designed for play and a TAILS brickheadz for display. When Tails’ Workshop and Tornado Plane was released it was the only one to include both Sonic and Tails minifigures together.

Conclusion

The set is great for action playing as you can set up and go though the obstacle course catching rings before releasing clucky from badnik and then hang out at the workshop where you can use tools to repair the plane or care for rescued characters.

The Sonic minifigure is true to the character with his iconic hair and red sneakers. Tails is also true to character with his two tail and white fur design. The set is fairly sturdy and works well for heavy play and there are lots of options. I would recommend the set for play and for Adult lego fans who want to display characters and features from the sonic video game. I love the versatility of the set and the red, one-seater, biplane with an imprinted round fox tail emblem on the back. I think the plane is great for displaying and I like that the set feels like a real-life version of the video game with characters that keep the same features and lots of ways to recreate playing the game. The set took about two hours to build and is priced at 39.99 or 11 cents per piece. The set is available at LEGO.com

Who is the set made for

The set is for adult’s and collectors. It does not include stickers.

What’s Inside

There are 3 key areas: King Triton’s throne rock, Ariel’s hideout filled with treasures, and Ursula’s mysterious cave.

The set minifigures include Ariel, Karina, King Triton, Indira, and Ursula plus Flounder and Sebastian.

Four of the minifigures have double sided heads.

King Triton has a blank head. His face is imprinted on the hair and beard piece.

Unique features

This is the first set to include all the minifigures and Flounder appears in this set as well as Ariel’s Treasure Chest (43229).

Challenges building the set

When building, steps 137 and 173 are easy to forget about which are to connect pieces already in place to the bar, for stability.

Steps 137 and 173 in instruction book

Comparisons to other sets

This set is made as a display piece. It is one of three sets released in 2023 for The Little Mermaid movie. The other two being LEGO Little Mermaid Story Book set (43213) and LEGO Ariel’s Treasure Chest (43229). The Little Mermaid Story Book is an original Polly Pocket like set folds to be like a real book and Ariel’s Treasure Chest is a great set for kids as they can decorate the treasure chest and wearable bracelet however they want.

Conclusion

The set is suitable for display, but would be fragile for play. The clamshell looks ok but includes gaps in the clamshell; however without a specially made piece a better design would be difficult. I liked how the sunken sail and the boat hull were built. The minifigures are designed after the 2023 movie characters.  The mermaid tails sit nicely which I think is a great feature, though this is nothing new as LEGO has used mermaid tail pieces before making this set. However, the designs on the mermaid tails are new to this set and I like all of them. The set was an easy build that took about 8 hours to build. The set costs 159.99 valuing the pieces at .09 per piece. At that price the set is a good deal. If you want the mermaid minifigures and want to display the clamshell I recommend the set however there are other LEGO Little Mermaid sets and characters available.

LEGO Little Mermaid Clamshell (43225) set

about the set

LEGO Lord of the Rings Rivendell is the biggest Lord of the Rings LEGO set produced by LEGO as of May, 2023 and will likely be discontinued sometime in 2026. The set is based on Rivendell in Middle Earth. There are a total of 6167 pieces. It includes nine minifigures for the nine characters of the fellowship, Bilbo Baggins, Elrond the Half-Elven, Arwen, Gloin, 2 elves and 6 statues, for a total of 21 minifigures. Both stickers and imprinted pieces are included in the set.

Packaging

The box had 49 numbered bags inside and 1 non numbered bag with plates. Additionally, inside the main box was a second box with some of the bags to stop pieces from rattling and the 3 instruction books were packaged in a cardboard envelope.

The set has 13 stickers including the cover to Bilbo’s book “There and Back Again”.

This set is for adults and collectors as it is a large set and based on the Lord of the Rings. The box has a simple design similar to other LEGO sets geared towards adults. The box rating says ages 18 and up.

What’s Inside

There are a total of 21 minifigures including aged Bilbo Baggins, Boromir, Arwen, Aragorn, Elrond Half-elven, Frodo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, Gimli, aged Gloin the dwarf, Legolas, Meriadoc, Peregrin, Samwise Gamgee, a female Rivendell Elf, and a male Rivendell Elf. In addition, there are also six Elf statues that include four different versions.

The minifigures have two sided heads. Especially noteworthy is Bilbo’s face when he sees the ring. This set also includes an aged Bilbo and Gloin minifigures which are not included in previous sets. The minifigures are accurately dressed with elegant designs in the front and back. The Elves’ dresses shine in the light. Moreover, parts of the clothes on Boromir, Aragorn, Meriadoc also shine in light.

All minifigures

Minifigures with two faces

Gandalf and Gimli minifigures have hats and long hair that fit over their beards. Gloin also has hair that fits over his beard. Gandalf, Elrond, Frodo and Bilbo have alternate bottoms for sitting in the chairs at the council. Gandalf and Elrond robes to sit down are imprinted, not stickered which made them a great addition to the set.

The weapons include Narsil — the broken sword, Boromir’s sword, Gimli’s ax, Bilbo’s sword — Sting, Aragorn’s sword, Legolas’ bow and arrow, and elf swords. The weapons complement the minifigures well.

Weapons

The set is built in three sections. The Gazebo with a forge and an armory, the tower in Rivendell where Bilbo writes his book, “There and Back Again”, and The Council Ring.

Notable building techniques

  • The top of the Gazebo uses vines and life preservers
  • Animal tail pieces are used as tree limbs
  • Animal tail pieces are also used as door/window arches
  • Roof decorations that look like birds
  • Vines and animal tails create archway decoration behind the council porch
  • Hotdogs and popsicles are used to create chair arms and back
  • Use of fat round pieces ‘Brick, Round 2 x 2 D. 45 degrees Elbow’ create the look of old, gnarled tree
  • Use of ‘plate modified 2×3 with holes’ makes a nice look to top of roof

challanges building the set

The directions were easy to follow and the set is bagged nicely so you don’t have to sort through too many pieces at once.. However, building the set a second time will be challenging as there are so many pieces. Making sure all the roof tiles were facing the correct direction was grueling. This set is geared more for those who want to display the set on a shelf.

comparsions to other sets

Compared to LEGO Council of Elrond (79006), although you can’t make Gimli fly backwards when he hits the ring, the aesthetic quality of the porch and the nine seats is a definite plus. Having all 9 of the fellowship characters included in the set makes it feel complete.

conclusion

The set is delicate, but anyone interested in the Lord of the Rings world will enjoy playing with it. Some fun things to play with are the leaves with lembas bread, the removable gazebo so you can get into the armory, the removable weapons rack, Bilbo’s trunk with sword and mithril vest, the hidey hole for Sam, located under the statues. You could make scenes with Gandalf’s hair/hat and Gimli’s hair/helmet, and the sitting figures of Gandalf, Elrond, Bilbo, and Frodo.

I took my time and spent about 5 days building the set. The roof was the most time consuming to build with lots of pieces and straightening the tiles. Despite that, I enjoyed building it. Because the set was bagged nicely, it would be possible for anyone, even an inexperienced builder, to put together. The set came with some extra pieces but I wished this set had come with more since there are many little pieces that get lost easily.

I liked the set’s beauty and versatility while I didn’t like all of the stickers (though I think all the stickers fit in well with the story). I also didn’t like all the minifigures’ faces, like Arwen’s as it felt kind of basic.

The model has a nice display of the many features of Rivendell and is accurate enough to help satisfy anyone’s imagination. The set includes tiled floors, a tiled roof, and has a captivating artistic design. The minifigures are relevant to the story and the theme of the set. The price was a good value for such a large set and based on the amount of pieces included and all the set features. The set has beauty and various noteworthy build techniques. The set is great for both display and play.

conclusion

As a fan of Jurassic World, this set was basic as it is made for early builders, however, it is a worthwhile addition to other Jurassic World sets if you’re a fan of the dinosaurs. The blue Pteranodon dinosaur makes a great addition, though other sets include the same dinosaur in different colors. The fishing dock and buggy are easy builds for young builders that could be used for play with other sets. I liked that the instruction books each built something different. Kids could each take a book and build the car or the fishing dock. I also liked the dinosaur chart and the chase scene at the end of the instruction books. The set was priced at $19.99. The Jurassic World Pteranodon Chase set is available at the official Lego website.

Conclusion

This set was fun. The market is a simplified version of what is seen in the movie. For a small market the set had a lot of play features for kids and adults can expand on the market idea to build a bigger scene or recreate scenes from the movie. The set was priced at $19.99. I really enjoyed putting it together and playing with it. The Jurassic Park World Atrociraptor Dinosaur Bike Chase set is available at the official Lego website

Conclusion

This modular set will make a great edition to add onto other Harry Potter modular sets. The bathroom is similar to what is seen in the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets movie. The trio’s cups were different for each character as Harry’s and Ron’s cups use basic pieces. Hermione’s cup is a mug with a handle which is most accurate to the cups seen in the movie. Overall, I give the accurateness a 9 out of 10 since this is a set based on a movie. I liked the mirror stickers which work great. The set is worth the price with the inclusion of the wizard collectable cards, the 20th anniversary edition of Harry, the mug cup and Hermione’s cat mask. The set was priced at $15.99.
